Hey everybody,
So although I have yet to recieve a review request, I decided to start with a book series called 'Children of the Lamp'. It is a series that people of almost all ages will enjoy. I first read the first book six years ago when I was in grade four. The series has seven books, the last having come out November 2011. The series stars two kids, named John and Phillippa Gaunt, who are twins. They come from an insanely rich family, their mother being a gorgeous philanthropist and charity worker, and the father, a short, not-so-handsome man, who is an accountant and makes the family's fortune - literally.
In the first book, during a dental opperation to remove their wisdom teeth, the twins are revealed to be djinn, or in other words, genies, by their eccentric Uncle Nimrod who bids them to come visit him in England - alone -. Convincing their parents to let them go is no easy task, but them both knowing the twins are djinn, not to mention the fact that their mother is a djinn, helps alot. They arrive in London to meet Nimrod for the first time, and his ever-complaining butler Groanin. Almost immediately they are taken on an adventure of a lifetime, encountering treacherous djinn, a murder plot, and a fight with an evil ghost and his ghostie minions.
The first book in the series is called the 'Akhenaten Adventure' and the author's name is P.B. Kerr. It is an excellent series and I would recommend it to anyone from ages nine and up.
All the best,
your friendly neighborhood Tenth-Grade Bookworm
